President-Elect Barack Obama

Wednesday
Nov 5,2008

I’m still wiping the tears from my eyes right now. Everything from Obama’s grandmother casting her ballot and passing away just one day before Obama was elected President of the United States to my black friend telling his son that he could be President one day, too, has brought me to tears tonight. My Ex thinks I’m a sap, I’m sure, but I don’t care. It’s amazing!

Gavin has been running around the apartment all night shouting “Barack Obahhhhhma wins!” and is eagerly planning his “Barack Obama Party” for tomorrow (hey, I gotta find a way to bribe the kid to go to bed…!). I’ve been anxiously drinking wine, biting my nails as the results came in. But, in the end, they came in the right way.

It’s a wonderful and historic moment for our country and I’m so excited for what tomorrow brings!

“Well gosh darn it, you Pennsylvanians! Dontcha know I’m a hockey mom! And this here’s my daughter Piper - and look! She’s wearin’ a Flyers’ jersey. You can’t boo me now. I brought my kids. I mean, you just can’t boo Piper.”

Apparently, they can - you moron.

John McCain is a Class(less) Act

Thursday
Oct 9,2008

By now, I’m sure most of you heard about John McCain’s infamous use of “That One” to address Barack Obama at Tuesday’s Presidential Debate. It’s indicative of McCain’s tone throughout the entire debate - callous, bitter, seething, disrespectful. “That One” will likely go down as a major flub in McCain’s already appalling Presidential campaign.

However, it wasn’t McCain’s worst offense that evening. At the end of the debate, Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, went around shaking hands with people in the audience. John McCain did the same while his wife, Cindy, trailed behind him like a confused puppy. When McCain passed by Obama, Obama reached out to shake McCain’s hand. McCain pointed at his wife, instructing Obama to shake Cindy’s hand first (implying, I think, that Obama was rude for not reaching out to the Barbie Doll first) - which Obama did.

McCain then turned away! He did not shake Barack Obama’s hand! It’s mind-baffling that someone who deigns to be President would conduct himself so callously - and on national television, too. I mean, at least pretend, man. The whole country is watching you!

Here is the video of the incident:
